Privacy policy

Draft. This policy is a plain-English draft and will be reviewed by a lawyer before paid plans start.

The short version

What we keep

Who can see what

Children

Many learners are under 18. Below grade 8, a parent sets up or approves the account; where the law asks for it (for example India, under 18), a parent confirms by email. Learners with a tutor join through their tutor’s invite, and the tutor confirms a parent or guardian agrees. We collect only what’s needed for learning, never use children’s data for marketing, and a parent can ask the tutor, or us, to see or delete their child’s data. The early-access list is for people aged 13 or over, or parents signing up for their child.

Prof and AI

When a tutor asks Prof to mark, plan, make questions or draft a report, the relevant material (for example a learner’s answers and the mark scheme) is sent to Anthropic, which provides the AI model. In the student version, a student’s answers are sent the same way when Prof marks them or gives a hint. Anthropic processes it to produce the result and doesn’t use it to train its models. With a tutor, every draft is checked by the tutor before anyone else sees it.

Services we use

How long we keep it

As long as your account is open. When you delete your account, your data is deleted straight away, apart from backups, which roll over within 30 days, and anything we must keep by law (such as payment records).

Your choices and rights

Security

Connections are encrypted, each person can reach only their own data (enforced by the database itself), and secret keys are stored on the server where nobody can read them back.
